Feel Good Story Of The Summer

Nate's art was chosen for the First Annual Gnomon Student Show. It is this Saturday. I am so excited for him. He has worked so hard. Just thought I would announce this exciting news. Hopefully I can attend. I'm not sure how they feel about children. Even if they are adorable.

Penny & Campbell

Here are some more fun things about the girls.

Campbell is constantly saying "look at me Penny" Ahhh, I just love it. Penny is constantly following her big Sis around the room(with her eyes)

Campbell has turned the tables on me. Instead of her saying animal sounds she makes me say them. My sound for elephant is different every time. I can't for the life of me nail that one down.

Penny is rolling and excersaucing. She is also testing out the volume in her voice. It is really cute but Nate and I wonder if the neighbors are trying to figure out if we are keeping a wild animal in our apartment. She is particularly loud around 7am. Maybe she is trying to compete with the crows.

Campbell calls the elevator the alligator. She saw a jellyfish at the aquarium and asks me to draw one for her all the time. She pronounces it Joly Siss.

Kind of a random post. Sorry there are no pictures. Camera is in the car.

You Can Reach Her on Her Cell

Campbell talks on her cell phone maybe once a month. If I'm in the right place at the right time I get to hear her conversations. Most of the time she just says "yes, yes, yes" and then bah-bye. Yesterday she had a few more things to add.

Yes, Yes, Monsners, Yes, Yes, Spiders, Yes, Bah-bye

Entertaining.

The Girls

I wanted to jot down a few things about our girls.

What I love about Campbell
Campbell has really turned up the cute button these days. She is melting our hearts left and right. Here are a few of my favorite words in her vocab.
-Squirrel (squwol)
-Movie (oobie)
-Birdie (buwdie)
-Broken (brokwen)
-Dinosaurs (dinsars)
-Spiders (spider)
-Fireworks (spiderworks)
-Monsters (monsners)

Favorite toy at the moment is a Huggies box and a rolled up pair of sox. This morning the box was on her bed so she may have tried to sleep with it last night. You never know with her. She is still refusing to wear clothes but randomly she will bring me something and demand that I put it on. Last week when the temp was so hot she brought me a jacket and long sleeve shirt. I put it on her thinking it wouldn't last but she wore it for about 3 hours.

What I love about Penny
-She is so smiley.
-She can do stomach crunches. She lifts up her head for about 5 seconds and then puts it back down. Kind of makes me feel lazy
-Almost rolling over. If it wasn't for that darn right arm.
-Laughing. Nate can really crack her up. No surprise there.
-She is a big squish. We just love all of her folds. She weighs in at 15lbs. According to the bathroom scale.

The wrong side of town and other ramblings

Last Saturday we decided we needed to get in on the Wal-Mart soda deals. Naturally, we googled the closest store and headed out in the Camry. The store was located on Crenshaw and MLK blvd. Hmmm... Lesson learned. Don't go anywhere you've heard mentioned in a rap song. I was so nervous the whole time. We went in the store and it felt like everyone was staring at us. Probably because we were the only caucasians around. Needless to say we left empty handed. The lines were too long. Duh, on our part. Saturday's are bad news at any Wal-mart in my opinion. I am not racist. I just don't like attention and we definitely had everyone's attention. Have mercy. I couldn't wait to get out of there. The only time I glanced up from the pavement I noticed an older woman passing us with a t-shirt that said "Black Mama" on it. Nate said that most of his mission resembled the area. No wonder he seemed so calm. Next time we'll probably visit a different Wal-mart.
Today we were at the food court of a local mall and Nate chatted it up with a hobo that sat down at the table next to us. He told Nate if he gave him $5 dollars he would go away. Nate's response was "I don't want you to go away." The guy was stunned because I think that was his "go to" line. He settled for some change we had in our pockets. Another funny story about this man. Before he sat down next to us he booted out this cute Mother-Daughter combo out of their seats. He said it was his chair. Now that we look back we wish we would have offered our seats to them. John Quinones didn't pop out from hiding so I guess we are off the hook this time.

they say the camera adds ten pounds

Don't you just want to squeeze her?

An example of an unflattering camera angle. So cute and I still want to squeeze her.

Snoozing at the park.

Extreme close-up.

I love my little Penny.

A few things about Campbell

This is what Nate usually sees when he opens the apartment door after a long day at school. We call her Mowgli.

I can't get her to wear clothing any more. It started with the shirt and diaper combo and now it's just the diaper. Also, for some reason Campbell has really taken to these red shoes. They are about two sizes too big for her. Sometimes when I open her door in the morning she already has them on. At least Campbell will wear clothing in public. I've also noticed the laundry hasn't been as full. I think this is what you call a win-win.

P.S. I love this picture
